AirBNB Fail

This morning I woke up with some frustrating and aggravating news.I had booked this place back in MAY to avoid any problems that may arise. So far so good, until my mother decided to come (which wasn’t the problem). I communicated to my host and first he said that he had an extra room available that my Mother can use. I thought, Okay great! Problem solved.A few days later he comes back and says that apparently he forgot he had a friend staying the days that we needed the extra room and offered his room. As a response, I said because of sleeping habits and health conditions it was best if we took the separate rooms. So this morning I woke up to him saying that his landlord decided that they didn’t like having a bunch of different people coming and going. I tried calling my host right away and he said he was in a “rush”, I made him get my number from me and said he’d call me back. Never did…thank god Airbnb handles the transactions; found another place, thankfully. But, OMG – I freaked out. Never in a million years could I have predicted this happening. The guy had 41 positive reviews and everyone loved the place. I was stunned that this happened. Edit: So my former host did finally respond to me, but didn’t say much other than these landlord issues were recent. Bah.

Nails

943261_2131929498092_650472153_n I got tired of having short stubby good-for-nothing nails so I thought with the events that are coming up for this summer I’d try acrylic nails! I’m enjoying them so far – just the not ‘getting used to it’ part. So I’m not sure how long these will stay lol. But its’ nice to feel girly and feminine once and awhile!

Edit: Lol so these were a complete fail. I don’t know if it was the glue, the way I put them on, them being too small, the ugly state of my natural nails or what, but the nails on my right hand completely came off by the end of the night. Kind of embarrassing.

The New Kglyphics

The new KGlyphics is here! I decided to give my website a complete makeover. The content wasn’t organized and it was just a plain mess. SO now the blog is moved over to the blog.kglyphics.com URL and the portfolio part of my website stayed on the main domain. I have two different wordpress databases. But somehow in the process of moving everything around I lost around 200+ photos… SO that is why when you go through some of the older posts, the pictures are missing. I’m going to eventually add them back and wrote down the post numbers, but I feel like right now its’ not that necessary. I hope you like the reworked website.

AHHH I’m so excited

I was notified yesterday that my artwork was accepted into an exhibition called the Infinite Earth and was a recipient of the Award of Excellence ($2,000)!!! The exhibition runs from September to December at the Kennedy Center of the Arts in Washington DC. The sponsor for this exhibition is going to pay for my shipment of my artwork, and travel + hotel. I have never been to DC and I cannot wait to go! I was kinda laughing though because the trip happens to be right before I go to California. They want me to travel from September 10-12 and I leave for California on the 13th. Man September is going to be nuts for a bit. I’m already thinking of how to spend my money… lol.

Website Updates

Hello! Just thought I’d let you know that I added more of a navigation on the left side. As usual, the colored bars at the top underneath the logo are links to the main parts of the site; blog , philosophy, resume, portfolio and press. Then the secondary navigation below that are links to different categories to the blog portion of the website. “Explore” has different categories that are related to my life and “Research” are categories that are related to my research. Take a look around!! πŸ™‚

Celebrations Gallery and Shoppes

I mentioned this on facebook but realized that I didn’t blog about it. My artwork has been accepted into an exhibition in Pomfret, CT called “Illumination” curated by the Celebrations Gallery and Shoppes. The reception will be on July 20th – the same day I come home from Montreal… from 5-8pm. It is only an hour away from Boston! The exhibition runs from July 20th – September 1st!

This is the chosen work.
