Celebrating a love-affair with autumn with the “Fig-ure of Love Elixir”

Nestled in a cozy cabin deep within the enchanting woods in West Dover, VT, a wedding anniversary weekend was destined to be a celebration of love and togetherness. As we embarked on this special time together with friends and family, I knew I wanted to infuse the weekend with a homage to the couple’s wedding, and what better way to do so than with a bespoke cocktail experience? Allow me to introduce you to the “Fig-ure of Love Elixir,” a drink that encapsulates the essence of love and the beauty of this cherished season.

Why I Chose the “Fig-ure of Love Elixir”

  1. A Toast to Love: What better way to celebrate the love that has grown and deepened with each passing year than with a cocktail that bears its name? The “Fig-ure of Love Elixir” was our way of raising a glass to the beautiful journey we’ve shared.
  2. Autumn’s Embrace: As the trees outside donned their vibrant fall attire, we felt a kinship with the changing season. The cocktail’s rich, sweet figs and earthy sage simple syrup mirrored the balance we’d found in each other.
  3. Signature Romance: With its delicate orange hue and captivating flavors, the “Fig-ure of Love Elixir” became the symbol of this weekend escape.

The cabin’s rustic charm provided the perfect backdrop for crafting this romantic elixir. We gathered around the wooden table, the soft crackling of the fireplace serenading us as we prepared to create a cocktail that would embody our love.

Ingredients and Preparation

  • Fig Splendor: Black Mission figs, with their honey-like sweetness, was my first choice. After several grocery store stops along the way to track them down they were spotted at a local grocery store.
  • Orange Rum: Orange rum, with its mellow profile, was the ideal canvas for showcasing the fig’s essence. Its aroma hinted at the adventure that lay ahead.
  • Sage Simple Syrup: Crafting this special syrup was an intimate experience and took a month’s preparation. As the fresh sage simmered with sugar and water, the cabin filled with the comforting scent of sage.
  • Orange Liqueur: Grand Marnier, with its brandy base, added a layer of sophistication to the cocktail. It was a nod to the years they’d spent together, evolving and maturing.
  • Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice added a burst of freshness that danced on our palates. It was a symbol of the zest that love had brought into our lives.

With these ingredients at the ready, we embarked on the creation of our “Fig-ure of Love Elixir.”

The Experience Unfolded

  1. Step 1: To begin, simmer water, sugar, and fresh sage in a small saucepan.
  2. Step 2: Adding a couple of fresh figs to the cocktail shaker, muddled them with the fragrant sage syrup. The sweet aroma of figs and the earthy scent of sage mingled in the air.
  3. Step 3: Orange rum and liqueur, lemon juice joined the party, transforming the shaker into a cauldron of autumnal delights.
  4. Step 4: Sealed tightly, the cocktail shaker became a vessel of anticipation. Then shook it with excitement, creating a symphony of sounds that echoed the rustling leaves outside.
  5. Step 5: Straining the mixture into old-fashioned glasses, we marveled at the cocktail’s rustic charm. Its orange hue was a nod to the blush of the autumn sky, setting the perfect mood for the occasion.
  6. Step 6: Finally, crowned this creation with chilled club soda. Gently stirring, the bubbling effervescence reminded us of the vivacity of the season and the effervescence of love and served it in a pumpkin-shaped glass.

With “Fig-ure of Love Elixir” in hand, we stepped onto the cabin’s porch. As the sun painted the sky with hues of orange and red, we toasted to nature’s beauty and the extraordinary love that had brought us to this moment. Each sip carried the essence of the woods, making our anniversary weekend a journey into the heart of autumn itself.

The “Fig-ure of Love Elixir” had become a cherished part of our celebration, a reminder that love grows deeper with every passing year. Amidst the fall foliage and the embrace of dear friends, we discovered that the most extraordinary experiences can be found in the most ordinary of moments. Cheers to love, to the woods, and to the remarkable “Fig-ure of Love Elixir” that made our anniversary weekend truly magical.

Embracing Self-Promotion: A Necessary Act for Artists

As an artist, I’ve often found myself grappling with the idea of self-promotion. It’s one of those topics that tends to stir up conflicting emotions within the creative community. Many artists, including myself, have struggled with the notion that promoting our own work somehow makes us seem self-centered or overly ambitious. However, as I’ve come to realize, self-promotion is not only a necessary part of being an artist but also a means of survival in the art world. I’ve often been called a bad person or someone someone else can’t trust, but that’s definitely not the case.

Let’s address the elephant in the room: the myth that self-promotion makes you a bad person. I’ve heard it said that self-promotion is akin to bragging or being conceited. But is it really? I’ve come to understand that it’s not about boasting or an inflated ego; it’s about sharing something you’re passionate about with the world. Artists pour their hearts and souls into their work. It’s a deeply personal and vulnerable process. We create because we have a burning desire to express ourselves, to communicate our thoughts, feelings, and perspectives through our chosen medium. So, it’s only natural that we would want others to see and appreciate our creations.

Self-promotion is a means of connecting with an audience, and it’s a vital step in the journey of an artist. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Visibility: In today’s world, where countless new artworks are shared every day on social media and other platforms, standing out can be challenging. Self-promotion is a way to ensure that your work doesn’t get lost in the digital noise.
  2. Financial Sustainability: Making art often comes with expenses – materials, studio space, marketing, and more. Self-promotion can help artists generate income from their work, allowing them to continue creating.
  3. Building a Community: Self-promotion can also help artists connect with fellow creatives and art enthusiasts. Sharing your work can lead to valuable collaborations and meaningful relationships.
  4. Advocating for Your Art: Who better to advocate for your art than you? You understand your creative process, inspiration, and intentions better than anyone else. Self-promotion allows you to share these insights with your audience.
  5. Art as a Business: In today’s art world, it’s not enough to create masterpieces and hope they get discovered. Artists must also understand the business side of their craft. Self-promotion is a fundamental aspect of managing your art career.

So, how can artists approach self-promotion without feeling uncomfortable or inauthentic? Here are a few tips:

  1. Be Genuine: Authenticity is key. Share not just your finished pieces but also your artistic journey, your struggles, and your growth as an artist. People appreciate honesty and vulnerability.
  2. Utilize Multiple Platforms: Explore various online and offline channels to promote your work – social media, art galleries, art fairs, websites, and even networking events.
  3. Engage with Your Audience: Respond to comments and messages, ask for feedback, and create a sense of community around your art. Building relationships with your audience can be immensely rewarding.
  4. Collaborate: Partner with other artists, influencers, or businesses that align with your artistic vision. Collaborations can expand your reach and introduce your work to new audiences.
  5. Balance: While self-promotion is essential, remember that it should complement your artistic practice, not overshadow it. Find a healthy balance between creating art and promoting it.

In conclusion, self-promotion is not a reflection of one’s character; it’s a strategic and necessary step for artists to thrive in today’s competitive art world. Embrace self-promotion as a means of sharing your passion and connecting with others who appreciate and support your creative journey. You’re not just selling art; you’re sharing a piece of your soul with the world, and that’s something to be celebrated, not shamed. Self-promotion isn’t exclusive to artists; it’s a valuable tool for marketers and professionals in any field looking to showcase their skills and expertise. In the fast-paced world of marketing, where staying ahead of the curve is crucial, self-promotion serves as a vehicle to demonstrate one’s knowledge and abilities. By sharing successful case studies, thought-provoking industry insights, or innovative strategies, marketers can not only establish themselves as thought leaders but also attract potential clients and collaborators. Self-promotion in marketing isn’t just about selling a product or service; it’s about selling your knowledge, your problem-solving abilities, and your capacity to deliver results. So, for marketers, self-promotion is not only a means of survival in a competitive industry but also an essential avenue for professional growth and recognition.

News: Electrography at the Mill District

Starting in May 2023, I created a display of my Electrography artwork in the local gallery here in Amherst! The Mill District is a contemporary, upscale complex that is aiming to attract affluent clientele as well as businesses. A local art gallery is perfect for this location in the greater Amherst community. My work will be there at least through the end of the summer.

The latest in a long line of family businesses at this location, dating back to 1741, The Mill District General Store is inspired by the 7th generation owner, Walter Cowls Jones, who was always quick with a homespun quip. We are proud to introduce a new store with a touch of nostalgia that has everything you need, as well as the fun things that Walter would say are “Handier than a pocket in a pair of under drawers!” Every visit is truly an experience.

The Mill District General Store flows directly into the ever-changing space of our Local Art Gallery. Seamlessly browse from our general merchandise to truly one of a kind pieces from members of our community. The Local Art Gallery is a living, breathing space full of unique, vibrant artwork that also hosts pop-up classes, events, and conversations led by the artists themselves. The partnership between The Mill District General Store and Local Art Gallery gathers us to bring you the  creative hub of the North Amherst community.

Imaging: AI Illustration – WhimsiCopia Characters

I’ve been getting into using Ai illustration to make cartoon drawings based off of sketches that I initially drew. To me this is the next wave of art and for someone like myself who struggles in this area I am over the moon that I can now make my own characters. This opens a whole new department for me to use in my graphic and imaging work.

Below are just some of my favorites!

Blog: Dark Flag Event

I attended my first vending event! I went to Dark Flag an EDMF in Cranston, RI. The day started off rough with a GP flare but I pushed through it and still ended up going. I had a lot of fun and sold a pin and a print. Still pretty good for one of my first few vending events. I still have physical artwork available and can offer pick up and delivery within the Five Colleges area in western Mass.

Spending the Day as a Beekeeper in Goshen, MA

GOSHEN, MA – Today I spent the day shadowing a local beekeeper whom I connected with via the buy nothing groups on Facebook. She wanted some macro photos of her bees and I was excited to try my new lens. I’m very happy with the results of these images! I also learned a little about beekeeping a long the way.

Now Available on Amazon

I’m excited to announce that I have my first book published on Amazon. It’s a legit product that you can purchase with your amazon account. In addition, I’m also looking at Amazon as a selling platform as a whole. Utilizing drop shipping from suppliers found on alibaba or AliExpress. I’m thinking my in-house studio will be where I’ll do small batch, designing and prototyping, etc. and then larger orders will be sent via drop shipping. I’m also working on several other books as well. So watch the ‘published’ section at the bottom of the main pages on this site.

LSF Framework: Art Ai as Concept Art in Project Proposals?

#asymmetry #geometry #symbolism #universe #LSFframework

My portfolio has been experiencing a renaissance utilizing Ai to overcome certain challenges that I’ve faced as a creator. Being one person I simply can’t have all the skills necessary for creating the direction I want to go in, in terms of this portfolio. One of the challenges Ai has overcome is creating concept art for proposals and ideas that sit at the intersection of art and science. Being a website that promotes art and science I wholeheartedly support Ai and unless something dangerous or drastic develops, you won’t be changing my mind! Being an independent, I wholeheartedly believe in saving time so you can use that time for yourself or to focus on the actual production of the artwork.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been making its mark in various fields, and the art world is no exception. AI algorithms can be trained to create original artworks that can be used in art proposals. Conceptual art is one such genre where AI-generated art can be quite effective in conveying the artist’s vision. Art proposals are essential for artists looking to secure funding or exhibit their works. These proposals typically include the artist’s statement, past works, and sometimes, concept art. Conceptual art is a type of art that focuses on the ideas or concepts behind the artwork rather than the physical representation of the object. It is, therefore, an ideal genre for artists to use AI-generated art.

One of the ways AI-generated art can be used in art proposals is by creating abstract or symbolic imagery that represents the artist’s concept or idea. For example, an artist may want to convey the idea of interconnectedness, and an AI algorithm can generate a network of lines and shapes that represent this concept. The generated artwork can be included in the proposal as a visual representation of the artist’s idea. Another way AI-generated art can be used in art proposals is by creating collages or assemblages of images. An AI algorithm can be trained to select images that are relevant to the artist’s concept and arrange them in a meaningful way. For instance, an artist may want to convey the idea of diversity, and an AI algorithm can be trained to select images of different cultures, genders, and races and arrange them in a way that represents the artist’s idea. The resulting artwork can be included in the proposal as a visual representation of the artist’s concept.

AI-generated art can also be used to create interactive or immersive artworks. Interactive artworks are artworks that require the viewer’s participation to complete the work, while immersive artworks are artworks that envelop the viewer’s senses to create a total experience. AI algorithms can be used to create artworks that respond to the viewer’s movements or actions, or that create immersive environments that transport the viewer to a different world. These artworks can be included in the proposal as an example of the artist’s vision for the artwork. AI-generated art can be a powerful tool for artists looking to create conceptual art for their art proposals. AI algorithms can be trained to create abstract or symbolic imagery, collages, interactive or immersive artworks, and more. By using AI-generated art in their proposals, artists can effectively communicate their ideas and concepts to potential funders or exhibition curators.

Below is a screen recording of a .stl file that I created with a generator from the right image above. This is significant as it can then be sent to a 3D printer and be printed into a pendent, or to any machine that accepts .stl files.

In the LSF (Light, Sound, Form) framework, the apple or fruit represents a fundamental concept in the creation of the 3Dimensional realm we currently inhabit. According to this framework, the apple symbolizes the split of light into two aspects, light and dark, which gives rise to the polarity necessary for the manifestation of the physical realm. In this context, light represents the energetic, spiritual, and transcendental aspects of existence, while dark represents the material, physical, and manifest aspects. The split between light and dark is said to have occurred during the creation of the universe, and it is the foundation upon which the physical realm is built.

The apple is often used as a metaphor for this split, with the fruit representing the material aspect of existence and the seed representing the spiritual aspect. When the seed is planted and nourished, it can grow into a new tree, thus representing the cycle of birth and rebirth that is a fundamental aspect of existence. The LSF framework suggests that the physical world we inhabit is a manifestation of the split between light and dark, with both aspects working together to create the complexity and diversity of our reality. By understanding this fundamental concept, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of all things and the role that polarity plays in the creation of our world.
