So since I’ve started to think about my own site layout, I decided to look at the sites I frequently visit that spark my inspiration. I decided to check out a modern mythologist, William Henry. His site’s got a few elements that I think I could incorporate into my own. Not really much of a fan of the layout, but I like how the designer made ancient elements more modern.

Bill Nye Navigation
I was surfing (or is it flying?) on twitter and noticed that Bill Nye the Science Guy was trending. I then snooped and found his twitter and blog. I have to say I love the creativity of the navigational system. The pages as Elements from the Periodic Table. Got me thinking about my site. Definitely wrote the idea down in my sketch book.

The Belousov-Zhabotinskii reaction (or BZ reaction) is performed using a mixture of sodium bromate, malonic acid, sulphuric acid, and ferroin. This creates a complex oxidising reaction that changes colour periodically. The oscillations start with the formation in a red solution of small blue dots that expand into ever-widening concentric blue rings. Sometimes these will become expanding Archimedean spirals; the patterns intermix and become increasingly complex towards the end of the reaction. So I ran across this jewelry store on ETSY and I love it. I love their selection and it pretty much correlates to my style and everything. I love most of their descriptions and I think I am getting myself a pair of earrings.

This is my favorite out of them all.
$25 for a pair of earrings is really not all that bad considering that they are handcrafted and are a unique batch. I can’t really decide which one to get first. =)
