Along with a 16th-17th century office I want a vintage lab… so cool.
Here’s some interesting finds from etsy.
Just swiped this vintage warming plate from etsy. I’m hoping to use it for my next project which is trying to make that “Smart mud“.
So I really didn’t like the layout I had before. Totally wasn’t what I was aiming for with this blog.
But this design is closer to what I was looking for. It’s still not right… =/
I’ll leave it for now. I’ll redesign the rest of my site this weekend.
Posts will be scarce for a little while as I finish up the semester. ..
Wander alone; bearing the light and thy staff. And be the light so bright that no man seeth thee. Be not moved by aught without or within: Keep silence in all ways. Illumination from within, secret impulse from within; practical plans derived accordingly. Retirement from participation in current events. (BT p. 257)

Incredible correlations have been found between the earliest chinese text, IChing, the Book of Changes and DNA. The 64 symbols of the I Ching (called hexagrams* or kua) correspond to the 64 codons of the genetic code. Its Hebrew counterpart is the Qabbalistic text, Sefer Yetzirah, or Book of Creation. It provides the source for the other half of the occult (hidden) genetic code; the 20 amino acids and 2 stop codon groups.
*Hexagrams or Hexagons in Qabbalah..
Observe closely, the nucleus forms a hexagon in this 2 dimensional demonstration. The hexagon is the form of 2 overlapping triangles, which have been created by the electrons orbiting the proton and neutron. This hexagon is the HEX placed on humanity through the adoration of the mother / woman. This has been implanted through the thought process of this unseen group of thinkers.
Sefer Yetzirah is the earliest known work of Hebrew magical thought included in the subject known as Kabbalah or Qabala. It’s title translates into English as “Book of Creation.” It was written between the third and sixth centuries. It is extremely brief, less than 2000 words, and is written in a terse and enigmatic style which has defied all attempts to completely clarify its meaning.
In short, the text tells how The Creator used the numbers 1-10 and the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet to create Universe and all the living things in it. The Hebrew letters are molded like bits of clay, placed opposite each other and otherwise manipulated to create, in a magical way, all that exists.
“… Sefer Yetzirah interprets the ‘speech’ of God in a very clear way. God did not talk to Himself, like an absolute monarch who wills and it is done. Rather, He generated substance, from which He formed letters, out of which he combined ‘words’, which became things. God’s ‘speech’ was not sound but a modeling of units of clay.” (UJM p. 46)
“… the reader is told ‘test’ and ‘explore’ (and in some manuscripts also ‘know, calculate, and form’) – i.e., to try to combine letters and numbers and to ‘create’ as God did. Such activity was, in fact, known in the Judaism of late antiquity. By it, some rabbis were reported to be able to create small animals and homunculi (animated clay men, who cannot, however, speak).” (UJM p. 16)
The ‘clay’ description of creation reminds me of the Creation Myth of the Dogon which uses the analogy of throwing clay on a pottery wheel to the spin and formation of planets.
In addition to the numerical and functional analogies between the amino acids and the Hebrew alphabet there is a category coincidence as well. The letters of the Hebrew language in the Sefer Yetzirah are arranged into 3 categories.
The Hebrews held their alphabet [which they call the autiot, or “signs”] in especial reverence. They have alluded to it as the Heavenly Alphabet, the Celestial Writing, the Writing of the Angels, the Bridge Twixt Heaven and Earth, the Passing of the River and Over the Waters, just to name a few. Letters of the Hebrew alphabet formerly named all constellations in the Zodiacal Path and the seven planets.
3 “Mother” letters: Aleph, Mem, Shin
7 “Double” letters: Beth, Gimel, Daleth, Kaph, Pe, Resh, Tau
12 “Simple” letters: He, Vau, Zain, Cheth, Teth, Yod, Lamed, Nun,
Samekh, Ayin, Tzaddi, Qoph
The amino acids and punctuation codons have many chemical properties by which they can be categorized, but the simplest property describes how they behave within their watery environment of the cell. The amino acids can be described as either hydrophobic (water hating) or hydrophilic (water loving).
12 Amino Acids are Hydrophilic: Serine, Threonine, Tyrosine, Histidine,
Glutamine, Cysteine, Asparagine, Arginine, Aspartate, Glutamate,
Lysine, Glycine
8 Amino Acids are Hydrophobic: Valine, Isoleucine, Proline, Leucine
Phenylalanine, Tryptophan, Alanine, Methionine
Since Methionine also serves to mark the starting point for translation on the mRNA strand, I put it in the “Punctuation” category along with the 2 stop codon groups. Therefore the 64 codons of the genetic code, those that code for amino acids and those that serve as “Punctuation” (start & stop), can be put into the same number of categories with the same number of items in each, as the letters of the Hebrew alphabet.
3 Punctuation groups (2 stop groups, 1 start group [Methionine])
7 Hydrophobic Amino Acids
12 Hydrophilic Amino Acids
Derived from the Qabalistic practice of gematria, the practice of assigning number values to Hebrew words based on the numerical values of the Hebrew letters. Note that there are 46 chromosomes in the normal human. Each of the parents contribute, via their sperm and ovum, 23 chromosomes to the new being they create together.
Note also that each of the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching has 6 lines and so there is a total of 384 lines in all.
(life 23) +
(thread 23) = 46
(father 4) +
(mother 42) = 46
(Adam 45) +
(Eve 19) = 64
(sperm 277) +
(ovum 107) = 384
(male 227) +
(female 157) = 384

The colors of this Mandala reminds me of the evidence found of the Holographic reality in Tibetan art. Hmm…
The DNA molecule is often referred to as “the thread of life” in the literature of science. That this thread of life is segmented, in the human species, into 23 chromosomes each for the egg and sperm at their union is highly evocative. Upon union, the separate strands of DNA merge to create a new thread which will thereafter be the blueprint for an entirely distinct and novel individual. It is this thread which then propagates itself into every cell of the growing body by a process of replication. Replication entails the splitting or separating of the double helix of the DNA molecule and the duplication of the half strands resulting in the creation of two identical DNA threads. Each thread then inhabits a separate cell and the process of DNA replication and cell division continues.
“This Torah [Tarot], the linguistic movement of Ein-Sof within itself, is called a malbush (“garment”), though in fact it is inseparable from the divine substance and is woven within it … (the garments) length is made up of the alphabets of the Sefer Yetzirah and had 231 “gates” … which form the archistructure of divine thought. Its breadth was composed of an elaboration of the Tetragrammaton according to the numerical value of the four possible spellings of the fully written names of its letters, … , which were the “threads” and the “weave” that were originally situated in the hem of the garment. … The size of this garment was twice the area necessary for the creation of all the worlds. After it had been woven, it was folded in two: half of it ascended and its letters stood behind the letters of the other half.” (Kabbalah p.132)
Fu Hsi is the legendary creator of the I Ching. His sister/consort is Nu Kua. She is also portrayed as the creator of mankind:
“It is popularly said that when Heaven and Earth had opened forth, but before there were human beings, Nu-Kua created men by patting yellow earth together. But the work tasked her strength and left her no free time, so that she then dragged a string through mud, thus heaping it up so as to make it into men. Therefore the rich and the noble are those men of yellow earth whereas the poor and the lowly – all ordinary people – are those cord-made men.” (p. 338)
In conclusion, the study of the ICHING and its correlation to the Genetic Code, may in fact be crucial to studying the organic matrix of reality. The matrix reality that the Shipibo indians saw.

In The Pale Fox, Griuale and Dieterlen describe a basic approach to the act of creating that is defined within the framework of Dogon mythology. This approach includes four phases or stages and, for the Dogon, applies equally to any creative project, whether it be a creative act of Amma or an undertaking of man – for example, the building of a dwelling. The first of these is the conceptual stage, in which an idea is conceived, and which the Dogon call Bummo. Aat this stage, the project exists only in signs or seeds – symbols that represent the final thing to be created. For a middle school student assigned to write a report, this would be the equivalent of seelecting a topic. In the second stage, called the yala, the project is conceptualized in broad strokes that identify the boundaries of the object tobe created. This compares roughly to our middle school student’s report outline, Griaule and Dieterlen described this phase in The Pale Fox,
After the first series, that of abstract signs or “trace” bumo, will come the second series, that of the yala “mark” or “image,” executed in dotted lines…”The yala of a thing is like the beginning of the thing.” Therefore, when one builds a house, one delineates the foundation with stones placed at the corners: these stones are the yala, the “marks” of the future dwelling. The term yala also has the meaning of “reflection,” which expresses the future form of the thing represent.”
The third developmental stage refines the image of the thing to be created by filling in the main details of the object or concept. We could say that this third stage would be comparable to a student’s detailed notes to a first draft of the report. In regard to this stage. Griaule and Dieterlen wrote:
The third series of signs is that of the tonu, “figure,” “diagram,” or sometimes “periphery,” of things. The Tonu is a schematic outline of generally separated graphic elements; it is the sketch, the rough draft of the thing or being represented. THe word tonu comes from tono, “to portray,” which also means “to begin,” but in the dynamic sense of the word. it is said that Amma “began things,” amma kize tono, to demonstrate the initial impetus he gave to creation…. the Tonu of the house connotes the pebbles that have been placed between the corner-stones to delimit the walls.”
The fourht and final stage of the creative act is to produce the finished image of the thing to be created. It is interesting that the Dogon make almost no distinction between the representation of an object and the object iteself. Griaule and Dieterlen described this completion stage in The Pale Fox:
The fourth series consists of the “drawings,” toymu (or toy), as realistically representative of the thing as possible. It is also the thing itself. Wen one has finished the building of a house, it is as ife on had made a complte drawing, toymu, of the house. In speaking of the toy and of Ama, one says: “to make the drawing is to make the thing that he (Amma) has in mind. It is, therefore, to represent the thing created in its reality.”

Dogon Creation myth is one of the oldest creation myths in existence.
The Dogon say that the stars were created from pellets of earth flung out into space by the one true god, Amma. The sun and the moon were created by a process much like that of making pottery, which was the first known invention of god. The sun is like a pot that has been fired until it is white-hot, then surrounded by a spiral of copper with eight turns. To create the Earth, Amma squeezed a lump of clay in his hand and threw it away from himself in the same manner as he did the stars. The clay spread to the north and to the south (the top and the bottom) in a movement that was horizontal. By nature, the Earth is female. Looking at it flat and considering the cardinal points of the compass as her appendages, it is like a woman lying on her back with her arms and legs spread. The anthill is her female organ. In the course of time, Amma tried to fertilize her, but in what was breach of order in the universe, proper intercourse could not take place. In the universe, there is a principle of twin births, but this flawed union between god and Earth created only one being, the jackal, which became the symbol of disorder and the difficulties of god. Later, having overcome the difficulty, god had intercourse with the Earth again, this time successfully. Water, which is the divine seed, entered the womb of the Earth and resulted in the birth of twins. Two beings were formed, which god created like water. They were green in color and were half human, half serpent. Their bodies were green and sleek all over and shiny like the surface of the water. These spirits were called Nummo, and they were born perfect. They had eight members, and their number was eight, which is also the symbol of speech. They were of divine essence, which is the life force of the world, and is water. The name Nummo is synonymous in the Dogon language with the word for water. To the Dogon, Nummo is water and the Nummo pair is present in all water – whether it is drinking water, water of the river, or water of storms.

Next month, ugh. May.
The month where paradise ends or at least in my world. I *REALLY* don’t want to go back home. I like being here. I like having the creative freedom, I like being in the control seat of my life. I like it. I can do what I want. I feel like sometimes when I go back home my creativity is stifled. My parents aren’t visionaries, so they can’t see my projects that I see and hope to do.
I have to plan everything.. while planing is good, sometimes its not if you just want to be creative..
When I go back home… I’m back in my room, with my drafting table as my only workspace. No 309 or 104 to work in. No studio rooms to do studio work… Just a small 40 x 30 ish table…
I will begin my language classes at the end of the month and language is one of my worst subjects. I hate it. I’ll be depressed 10am -12pm MTWTH throughout the summer so I can get that goddamn credit and finally graduate this Winter.
May is the time when I am supposed to be handling some major decision. In the reading at the beginning of the semester it said that May could point to a time where there is too much going on. I just did another one now and it says, I’m going to have to make a decision that might keep me up at night and it will take some strength to do so. Heh, I like in my Medieval deck that its called, “Force”. 😛 Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see what pans out. This coincides with a reading I was given last summer at the end. We’ll see we’ll see..
I think I’m seriously going to take up sculpting this summer. I need SOMETHING to do besides class + freelance work.
I want one.

Sigh. One of the materials I have been obsessing over lately is Clay-based hydrogel. Its a gel, made of water that self heals. Apparently it is mostly water 0.4% clay and the rest is a molecular binder.
There is nothing on the internet regarding recipes! ARGH.
The clay they state is “Clay NS” NS means Nanosheets. Like that helps me even more… Nanosheets are just basically thin sheets of a material, so in our case it would be a thin sheet of clay made using nano particles.
Since this material self-heals it has potential to be used in the automobile industry, heck any vehicle….
It made me think of this verse…
Genesis 2:7, which says:
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
Here is a little more information on the recipe:
According to a report in New Scientist, Takuzo Aida and his team at the University of Tokyo, Japan, mixed a few grams of clay with 100 grams of water in the presence of tiny quantities of a thickening agent called sodium polyacrylate* and an organic “molecular glue”. The thickening agent teases apart the clay into thin sheets, increasing its surface area and allowing the glue to get a better hold on it.
This means that, while the mixture is almost 98 per cent water, it forms a transparent and elastic hydrogel with sufficient mechanical strength to make a 3.5 centimetre-wide self-standing bridge.

*Sodium Polyacrylate can be found in disposable diapers.
As for the Organic Molecular binder, I found artists’ Rabbit Skin Glue to be a probable specimen,
This is a high grade glue made in Italy of pure rabbit collagen. It is a granular glue that is easy to dissolve in water. It is ideal for use in gesso and as a medium for distemper painting.
Stronger than most modern adhesives, rabbit skin glue is used in traditional woodworking, gilding and painting techniques. First soaked in water and then heated in a water bath, it is applied warm, and gels when left to cool. In woodworking, rabbit skin glue’s solubility in water makes it reversible, while its “open time” allows for repositioning. In painting and gilding techniques, it is used both as a size for canvas and boards, in recipes to make traditional gesso, and in distemper paints.
Animal glues vary in strength, but rabbit skin glue usually offers the highest strength, viscosity and elasticity. True rabbit skin glue tends to gel at lower temperatures, making it easier to use in gesso applications. Otherwise, glue made from bovine collagen are comparable.

Especially the “gels when left to cool” part.
And the clay Above Top Secret
forum suggested Kaolin, a mineral Clay, that a Botanicals shop supplies. Here it is on Amazon in Baby Powder form.

Kaolin Clay is also popular in homemade cosmetics products… you can find it on etsy.
You can buy disposable diapers in a super market.
And buy the rabbit skin glue in a art supply store.
Rabbit Skin Glue is about $7.47 for a quarter of a pound at Artist Supply Store.
100g of Kaolin Clay for $9.00
16.47 + baby diaper cost= ~$30
With the world’s focus on reducing our dependency on fossil-fuel energy, the scientific community can investigate new plastic materials that are much less dependent on petroleum than are conventional plastics. Given increasing environmental issues, the idea of replacing plastics with water-based gels, so-called hydrogels, seems reasonable. Here we report that water and clay (2–3 per cent by mass), when mixed with a very small proportion (<0.4 per cent by mass) of organic components, quickly form a transparent hydrogel. This material can be moulded into shape-persistent, free-standing objects owing to its exceptionally great mechanical strength, and rapidly and completely self-heals when damaged. Furthermore, it preserves biologically active proteins for catalysis. So far1 no other hydrogels, including conventional ones formed by mixing polymeric cations and anions2, 3 or polysaccharides and borax4, have been reported to possess all these features. Notably, this material is formed only by non-covalent forces resulting from the specific design of a telechelic dendritic macromolecule with multiple adhesive termini for binding to clay.

So my business project prediction did come true after all… 😉
Anyway. Been a bit better lately, not so stressed/overwhelmed… but I got nothing done in the past week, so I don’t know why I feel better lol.
Ugh. You know what sucks? Its gonna cost $225 to park at the HILL next year! I only need to be there for one semester! I’m not paying $225 for three months… $150 would be more reasonable for three months, but not $225… maybe I’ll split that w/ my parents, I don’t know.
I’m also excited that my parents have been looking for houses on Cape Cod. I have spent my summers growing up on Cape Cod ever since I was 6 months old. Its been a big part of my life, and I’m actually thinking about maybe trying to have a summer studio there at some point. The arts community there is terrific and the area is so inspiring, especially Provincetown; the tip of Cape Cod. Provincetown is an old fishing town, so there’s a lot of history to it as well. There’s even a pirates museum!!
If I don’t think about it, it doesn’t really get to me that much, but I’m actually really frustrated with life. So much is out of my control, and I can’t see the end result. Those who don’t know, I’m a bit of a clairvoyant so I see and feel things before they happen. One reason why I do tarot, it’s a tool to help me better understand my “visions/feelings”. If I can’t see/feel a result in a situation it freaks me out or frustrates me. I can’t see past December of this year, and after this December is 2012. I do usually just go with the flow and live life and not worry too much about the future, but being a clairvoyant, its hard, extremely hard to NOT pay attention to the future, because the future is always paying attention to you!!
I’m just trying to keep myself busy, and even now its hard to do so.
