My imaging portfolio currently is divided into three categories; “photography”, “printmaking” and “generative”. This portfolio explores various methods in capturing an image or visual. This can range from the ancient method of pinhole cameras (camera obsecura) to generative art via nature and technology. Generative art consists of Cellular Automata and AI. The CA portfolio contains natural examples of cellular automata that universally follow systems and principles to create an image.

Photography
Photography is the art, application, and practice of creating images by recording light, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film.

Printmaking
Printmaking is an artistic process based on the principle of transferring images from a matrix onto another surface, most often paper or fabric. Traditional printmaking techniques include woodcut, etching, engraving, and lithography, while modern artists have expanded available techniques to include screenprinting.

Generative
Generative art refers to art that in whole or in part has been created with the use of an autonomous system. An autonomous system in this context is generally one that is non-human and can independently determine features of an artwork that would otherwise require decisions made directly by the artist.

Success Stories

I enjoyed getting to know a new artist and learning about your Electrography project. Collaborating two completely different skills and talents is such a fun experience. Not only did I learn a lot from you but I also gained a lot of inspiration from this project!

Kristi’s workshop was meticulously prepared. She provided all the materials and equipment needed for the each member of the group to produce several pieces related to their own research. We all enjoyed the fascinating experience she led.

At the Cambridge Science Festival, we aim to create a shared cultural festival from the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math experiences in our lives.  Kristi Beisecker was a wonderful addition to our art and technology workshops in the 2014 science festival, engaging a diverse audience with her electrography work.  Particularly the use of organic materials, plants and fauna, was effective and beautiful.
